I HEART FRED

My candidate, Fred Thompson, has stepped down from the presidential bid. I have expected this moment for at least a week now which puts me in a new predicament - Who do I vote for? This race is crucial to our present state of affairs as well as the future of this country. I have a whole lot of researching to do...

Dirty Little Trick!

So, you will never guess where I ended up again today. The Post Office! I know I claim they are dead to me, but I cannot escape it! I ordered my textbook from ebay and the sender used the USPS. Can you believe it? So, I got home yesterday and the postman had left me a pretty orange note letting me know they tried to deliver. I needed the book, like yesterday, so I didn't bother sending it back to tell them they could re-deliver. Long story short, I stood in line forever to retrieve my Project Management textbook. However, I was pleasantly surprised. At the end of the day, the attendants weren't angry workers like I have seen in some locations. I let the woman that helped me know that I absolutely hate coming there but that group was very pleasant and I thanked her for it. I guess my local group is ok....but I am still going brown for packages!

Good Eatin'

This week is Virginia Beach's Restaurant Week. Ollie and I joined Ronnie and Marie (not to be confused with Donnie and Marie Osmond) Monday night. We tried a fusion restaurant, Eurasia. I was skeptical at first because I had zero knowledge of the place. It was so yummy. These are pictures from dessert...

SC Debate

I wasn't able to watch the entire debate last night due to my incredibly early bedtime but I saw enough to know that Fred's not going out without a fight. I was proud of him for being aggressive in answering questions even when they weren't necessarily directed at him. He definitely showed "fire in the belly" that people have claimed that he lacked. According to pundits, he was the winner. If we can pull off SC, then there is no telling what the other Southern states hold!!!

Ok, I was wrong

I guess the independents ended up voting GOP or the polls are extremely wrong. Next stop - MICHIGAN.

NH Predictions

I predict GOP results #1 McCain, close #2 Romney, #3 Huckabee.
I predict DEM results #1 Obama, #2 Clinton, distant #3 Edwards.

Strike 3, USPS is out

I have said it before and I will continue to say we do not need the USPS beyond mailpeople delivering to our mailboxes. I gave them one more chance today to redeem themselves as a member of the US Government agencies. I waited in line for 15 minutes and did not move an inch. There were 2 workers taking their sweet time at a counter designed for at least 6 attendants. The line was at least 10 people deep and zero urgency from the employees. This is poor customer service. But what do they care? They are employed whether we patron their facility or not. I think we need to completely privatize shipping needs and automate purchasing stamps. I do not need face to face interaction to buy a stamp or mail a package. I am perfectly capable of weighing the box and paying via credit card in a machine if they would make numerous package sizes available for the drop off bin. I am going brown!

Over halfway there!

In case you do not know, I am training for my first half marathon. The race is here in Va Beach on March 16. So, Saturday I ran over half the distance. I am a little nervous about adding miles to my runs each Saturday since 7 miles was a bit difficult. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Right now, I am just learning to pace myself so I am not worn out come mile 5! I found that I was running my normal 9:30 minute/mile when I only run 3 or 4 miles and then slowing down to almost 11 minute/mile pace the final mile or so. I guess I just gotta keep practicing.

Let the games begin...

Yesterday's Iowa Caucus confirmed several of my predictions (Huckabee would win, Fred would be 3rd, and Obama would take the Dem vote) and pleasantly surprised me (Hillary in 3rd place). I love this time of year and super excited about the outcome! At this point, it is anyone's game on either side. What fun!! So, take up your civic privilege and VOTE!
