AM Protein Problem

Ok, readers. I need some advice. I have got to find a new breakfast option. I believe my problem would be solved with an increase in protein. I cannot stay full all morning and I'm noshing on anything I can find by 930am. HELP! Please offer suggestions that would be quick to make and easy to eat...in the car. I'm interested in protein shakes if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Scott makes friut smoothies and adds powdered protein. He gets the vanilla kind! They taste really good...and if you have a healthy mid-morning snack you should be fine!!!

Hi! I linked here from The Denbows... Here are two links to my most recent posts about protein at breakfast:

http://healthbeginswithmom.blogspot.com/2009/03/on-personal-note_26.html (why I need protein)

http://healthbeginswithmom.blogspot.com/2009/03/great-soy-controversy.html (what I drink)

Hope this helps! It's fun to find your blog... I love starbucks too, but good thing I can't manage very many stops there!

Nice to meet you,

Thanks, Ladies! Kelly, what kind of powder does he buy? I'm scared I'll get one that tastes gross. Amy Ellen, nice to "meet" you. And thanks for the tips!

you're right that you need protein. If you are hungry under 3 hours after you ate, then it was too much carbs and not enough protein. if you hungry more than 5 hours after you ate, then too much protein. You want to be hungry right around 4 hours after you ate.

I've thought about doing protein smoothies, too. Sometimes i eat an eggo with peanut butter on it along with a little glass of milk. Cottage Cheese or Yogurt with fruit and Canadian Bacon. When I have the time, eggs are filling.

I boiled an egg and sliced the egg whites on an English muffin the other morning with a little cheese and it kept me feeling full. I don't know why these last couple of weeks I have been so hungry so quickly. I think my body is still wanting to eat like I'm training for a race...but I'm not.

Thanks ladies!!!

Mindy,

Believe it or not, Slimfast is an excellent source of protein.

So you think you might join Karen for a full.

I think he just got the grocery store brand but got vanilla flavored...in a smoothie you won't taste a thing!!

Hey Mindy,

Let me know if you find anything that works (besides eggs. I can only eat so many before they gross me out). I workout at 5 a.m. and by lunch time I am about to pass out. It seems like I notice the hunger more working a job where I sit all day.

Shaklee Protein is the best I have had. I had to get a lot of protein in through non-food type stuff about a year ago and I could only manage those shakes. The vanilla - I can do it plain or with strawberries.
